Your studio settings are the ground truth every other part of BookYourMat reads from — how far ahead people can cancel, when texts are allowed to go out, which payment handles clients see. This article covers what you can set and where.
Studio identity
These are the basics, and they're all reversible:
- Display name — what clients see on your booking page and in messages.
- Timezone — every class time, cancellation window, and send hour is interpreted in this timezone. Set it before you build your schedule.
- Business address and business phone.
- Portal booking policy — whether clients can book without holding a package. This is the fork between two very different client journeys: one where people buy first, one where they book first and settle up after.
Policy settings
Under Settings, you can also control:
- Quiet hours — on or off, with a start and end time in 24-hour format. Automated texts hold until quiet hours end.
- On-call / forwarding phone — where studio calls land.
- Venmo, PayPal, and Zelle handles — shown to clients who want to pay you directly.
- Waiver — either one global waiver for the whole studio, or a waiver requirement set per class type. You control the waiver text.
- Booking buffer — 0 to 60 minutes of padding around appointments.
- Cancellation window — how many hours before a class a client can still cancel for free. Anything inside that window is a late cancel.
- Weekly availability windows — the hours you're open to bookings.
- Birthday message hour — the studio-local hour (0–23) your automated birthday text goes out, set at Settings → Proactive messaging → Birthday wishes.
Common questions
Do quiet hours hold the birthday text? No. The birthday message sends at the hour you chose regardless of quiet hours. If you set it for 6am or 11pm, clients really will be texted then — pick an hour you'd be comfortable receiving a text yourself.
Can Becky change any of this for me? She can change the settings above once you confirm the exact values. She cannot touch your studio's web address, your branding, or any connected-account credentials — those aren't hers to edit, by design.
