Referrals: growing your studio with existing clients

The people most likely to bring you new clients are already in your studio. Friend Referrals gives each of them a personal link to hand to a friend.

Before you start

Friend Referrals has to be turned on. It's one of the tactics on your Growth page — if it's off, there's no link to send, and asking for one will simply come back empty rather than inventing something.

How a referral link works

Each client gets their own link, tied to them, along with the two active referral benefits — what the friend gets and what the referring client gets.

Two things follow from the link being personal:

  • Never hand one client another client's link. Attribution follows the link, so a shared link credits the wrong person.
  • If you just want to see or copy someone's link — to read it out in the studio, or paste it into a message you're writing yourself — you can do that without sending anything.

Sending it to a client

Sending texts the client their link. Because it contacts a real person, it asks you to confirm first and runs through the same SMS safety checks as any other message. If more than one client matches the name you gave, sort out which one before it goes.

One thing sending does not do: it doesn't create a lead or a reward event. Sending the link is just delivery. Real referral activity through the public link remains the source of attribution, so nobody earns a benefit because you texted them.

Other growth tactics

Friend Referrals sits on the Growth page alongside two others worth knowing about:

  • Flash offer — a limited class-pack offer with its own shareable link, a price, a remaining count, and an expiry. It stops being shareable when it expires or sells out.
  • Find-your-class quiz — a link for a prospect who isn't sure which class suits them.

Both are optional and both are off until you turn them on. When you share either, use the real wording, prices, and expiry as they stand — no invented urgency, and don't hide the regular price. Studio owners who oversell a first offer tend to get one visit rather than a client.

Common questions

A client says they referred someone but nothing showed up. Attribution comes from the friend using the public referral link. If the friend booked without it, there's nothing to attribute — sort it out with the client directly.
