Becky is an AI receptionist, and the useful thing to know about her is exactly where her authority stops. This article is written to be checkable, not reassuring. If something below turns out not to match what you see in your studio, tell us — that's a bug, not a feature.
Two separate rails
Becky does two different kinds of work, and they have separate controls.
Replying to clients. When a client texts your studio, Becky can handle it. Three jobs have their own dial:
- Book, cancel, or reschedule from a text
- Answer a question from a text
- Record an injury note
Reaching out first. Becky also watches for people worth checking in on — a birthday, a regular with nothing booked, someone who's drifted away, a new client, a missing health note, a third-visit check-in.
The three settings on each reply job
Each of those reply jobs is set to one of three things:
| Setting | What it means |
|---|---|
| Check with me first | Nothing goes out until you say OK |
| Handle it, tell me | Becky handles the everyday cases and gives you a heads-up; the unusual ones still come to you |
| Handle it, quietly | Becky handles it and logs it, with no heads-up |
Above those, there's a studio-wide level: Muted (Becky says nothing at all — no drafts, no replies), Owner review (drafts are good enough to show you, but nothing auto-sends to a client), and Live (Becky handles it and escalates the real judgment calls).
Reaching out first is drafts only, today
This is the honest bit, and it's the one people most often assume otherwise about. Becky's proactive outreach runs as drafts. Birthday wishes, come-back messages, welcome notes, injury-note asks, third-visit check-ins — they land in your inbox for you to send. Nothing auto-sends. The panel shows a "Becky sends it" half of the dial, and it's locked off, because auto-send hasn't been built yet. It's shown rather than hidden so the settings tell you the whole truth instead of implying a control that doesn't exist.
See Becky's nudge queue for how those drafts work.
What Becky will not do
Some of these are permanent design choices; some are "not yet."
- She never edits her own permissions. What Becky may do on her own is human-controlled, always.
- She never claims something happened before it did. Connections, bookings, cancellations, messages, nudges — she re-reads the live state and reports what it says, including when the answer is "that didn't save."
- She won't merge duplicate clients. Merging is irreversible, so it stays with you.
- She won't send a broadcast or run a campaign. Anything that contacts many clients at once stays with you at the composer.
- She won't start, pause, or cancel a membership. Those are real billing changes on a real card.
- She won't complete a Stripe, Google, or Facebook connection for you. Those need you, signed in, on the provider's site.
- She won't publish, reorder, or re-date a social post. She can draft and you approve.
- She can't read or change your reported issues.
For higher-stakes changes she does make, she asks you to confirm the specific consequence in plain language first — promoting a staff member to admin, for instance, spells out that it hands them billing, staff, and all client data before anything happens.
Reviewing what she did
Every decision Becky makes is on the record with its outcome: done, refused, held back, asked the client, or sent to you. You can review that history and revert a decision. Both live on Becky's admin page, along with the dials above.
