Sending a staff announcement

When you need your teachers to know something — the studio's closed Monday, there's a new class on Wednesdays, the reformers are being serviced — that goes on the staff feed, not out to clients.

Where it goes

Announcements post to your studio's What's new staff feed in the dashboard. Every active staff member you target gets a notification.

Writing one

You need two things:

  • A title — 1 to 80 characters
  • A message — 1 to 500 characters

Keep it to the point. This is a feed your team scans between clients, not an email they'll sit down with.

Who sees it

By default, an announcement goes to all active staff. You can also target specific people — useful when it's only relevant to the instructors covering weekends, or to whoever's on the desk this week.

This is the staff channel, not the client one

Worth being explicit, because getting it wrong is the kind of mistake that's hard to take back:

  • A staff announcement never sends client SMS or email. It's internal, full stop.
  • No push notification goes out unless your studio already opted into push.
  • For messaging clients, use broadcasts instead.

If you want your teachers and your clients to know the studio is closed Monday, that's two separate sends: an announcement for the team, a broadcast for the clients.

Common questions

Can I edit an announcement after posting? Announcements post to the feed as they're written. If something's wrong, post a correction — your team reads the feed in order.

My message is longer than 500 characters. Trim it, or post the short version and put the detail somewhere your team already looks. A 500-character cap is a nudge toward announcements people actually read.

Do instructors get a text? No. It's an in-app notification on the staff feed. Nothing goes to their phone by SMS.
