Couples, spouses, and households come as a unit — one person books, one person pays, both attend. BookYourMat handles this in two separate steps, and knowing they're separate saves a lot of confusion.
Step one: link the clients
Linking two or more clients creates a relationship group. It's the same behaviour as the dashboard's Link couple action, and it's flexible about the starting state: it creates a group where none exists, adds an ungrouped client into an existing group, or merges two separate groups into one.
Before you link anyone, make sure you've got the right people — names repeat, and you want to be certain you're linking the actual couple rather than two clients who share a surname.
Step two: turn on family sharing
Linking alone does not let one person's package pay for another person's class. It makes them eligible to. The studio-wide Family sharing setting, at Settings → Portal → Family sharing, is what actually enables package credit to cross between linked members.
Turning family sharing on or off is a studio-wide decision, not a per-client one, and it's worth treating as such:
- The setting changes immediately.
- Turning it on or off queues a background sweep that rebalances package attribution across every client in your studio. The sweep isn't instant, but you don't have to wait for it — carry on.
- You can limit sharing to specific class types if you only want it for, say, duets. Leaving the class-type list empty means all class types.
Because it can shift package attribution studio-wide, this one always asks you to confirm.
Paying for a partner's class
Once people are linked, there are two ways one person's money covers another's class:
- Package credit — with family sharing on, a linked member's package can cover a compatible class for another member.
- Account credit — a banked dollar balance can settle another person's appointment. This is a separate, explicit consent every time: the first attempt fails and tells you whose balance it would come from, and only goes through once you say yes. Common questions
I linked them but the package still won't cover the partner's class. Family sharing is off. Check Settings → Portal → Family sharing — that's the switch, not the link.
